A simple and effective way to achieve a whiter, brighter smile

During your consultation here at Elite Dental of Staten Island, we will take an impression of your teeth that will be used to create your customised trays. This forms the teeth whitening kit that you are able to take home, which also comes with whitening gel. You will be provided with the bleaching agent and shown how to apply this to your trays so that you can feel confident during your at home treatment. Generally we recommend wearing your trays each night for two weeks to see optimal whitening results.

Teeth Whitening FAQs

Even if you practice good oral hygiene and take care of your teeth as best you can, it is unfortunately inevitable that you will notice some yellowing and discoloration over time. Besides aging, there are a number of lifestyle factors that can have a significant impact on the color of your teeth. Consuming dark colored foods and drinks, such as coffee, red wine, soda, tea, berries, and soy sauce, could all contribute to discoloration and staining. Other factors that can cause discoloration include the use of tobacco and some medications.

If you’re interested in a whitening treatment, we recommend that you come in for a consultation first. This will allow us to determine whether you are suited to the treatment, and if so, which treatment best suits your needs. This also gives us a chance to discuss your specific goals. If you go ahead with the treatment, we will take an impression of your teeth, which will then be used to create customized trays for you. We will give you a specially formulated bleaching agent and show you how to apply it to your trays. You can then take the trays home to wear every night for around two weeks.

Teeth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dental options because the treatment achieves such effective results. The treatment works by removing stains and discoloration in a fairly short period of time, and helps patients to achieve a brighter, more youthful looking smile. Also, studies show that people who have had their teeth whitened are generally more inclined to stick to good oral health practices in an effort to keep their teeth looking white.

As long as you come in for a professional treatment, teeth whitening is generally considered quite safe. During the treatment, your teeth will be coated with a substance that contains an ingredient called carbamide peroxide. This substance can only be prescribed by a dentist, and we will ensure that the correct amount is used. We will also ensure that your gums and soft tissues are protected during the treatment so you won’t need to worry about any pain or discomfort.

The amount of whitening you can achieve after a teeth whitening treatment will depend on a variety of factors, including the severity of your teeth stains, the type of whitening treatment you undergo, and your individual response to the treatment.

In general, professional teeth-whitening treatments can make your teeth several shades whiter. Some people may see results immediately after their first treatment, whilst others may need multiple treatments to achieve their desired level of whiteness.

It’s important to keep in mind that whilst teeth whitening can significantly improve the appearance of your teeth, the degree of improvement will vary depending on each individual case. It’s best to consult with a dental professional who can evaluate your situation and provide you with realistic expectations of the results you can achieve.

The longevity of teeth whitening results depends on a variety of factors, including the type of treatment used, your oral hygiene habits, and your dietary habits.

Generally, professional teeth whitening treatments can last anywhere from six months to two years, but they can vary from person to person. In some cases, the results may last longer if you avoid foods and beverages that can stain your teeth, such as coffee, tea, and red wine, and if you maintain good oral hygiene habits, such as brushing and flossing regularly.

However, over time, your teeth may begin to discolour again due to the natural ageing process and exposure to staining substances. In such cases, you may need to undergo another teeth-whitening treatment to maintain the brightness of your smile. It’s best to consult with your dental professional about the specific teeth-whitening treatment you are considering and how long you can expect the results to last.

Teeth-whitening treatments may cause mild sensitivity or discomfort, but they are not typically considered painful. The level of discomfort can vary depending on the individual and the type of treatment used. It’s important to follow the instructions provided and speak with your dentist if you experience any discomfort or sensitivity.
