Imagine a relaxed, pain free dental appointment
The body is home to thousands of nerve endings and all of them allow the body to feel sensations – and not all of them are good. Pain hurts and there is nothing wrong with being uncomfortable about the idea or the infliction of pain as we are not meant to like it for a reason. It is in fact a biological response to not want to do something you think might hurt you; it is so our body associates certain things with pain so we know not to do them. This primal response can cause confliction when we sometimes have to go through a little pain to get what we need or want. That is why at Elite Dental we offer sedation dentistry so that you can relax and feel at ease while the dentist gives you the treatments you need.
Have you heard?
Have you heard about the study that found parents (especially dads) can pass their dental fear on to their children? It’s by no means a conscious passing-on, but in a survey of over 100 children it was found that half of the children who were afraid of the dentist had never actually been to visit the dentist. Apparently, the stories they heard at home were enough to put them off.
Fear of dental treatments isn’t the only reason people undergo sedation dentistry: if you need multiple treatments but don’t want multiple appointments, sedation dentistry may be ideal for you.
Treating apprehensive patients has always been the cornerstone of Elite Dental of Staten Island.
We offer conscious sedation using sedatives often in combination with Nitrous Oxide. Dr. Acker is New York State Certified in Conscious Sedation.
These techniques allow our patients to achieve the highest level of comfort when receiving the state of the art dental care that we provide. Feeling virtually no pain at all, you will be relaxed and at ease throughout the procedure. During Sedation Dentistry treatment you are not unconscious at any time, just in a deeply relaxed state. Your vital signs are monitored throughout your entire visit and you are never left alone.
The sedative agents on the market now offer a high degree of safety and effectiveness for your dental treatment. Visits requiring sedation are arranged in advance. If you are undergoing Sedation Dentistry you will need to arrange transportation to and from the office, as you will not be able to drive.
